A little more than an hour from Hobart, Mount Field National Park is home to a diversity of landscapes, encompassing both rugged, alpine plateaus and lush, fern-forested valleys. Within the latter, snow melt and rain is funneled through several spectacular waterfalls, linked together by the Three Falls Circuit track. Walking anticlockwise, the trail visits three-tiered Russell Falls and smaller, yet equally beautiful, Horseshoe Falls in quick succession. To reach the cascades of Lady Barron Falls, the path proceeds along the Tall Trees route through an impressive canopy of Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans), the tallest flowering tree in the world. The route back to the trailhead comprises a long flight of timber steps.
