Tahmoor Canyon, NSW.
Traverse a deep gorge, see stunning waterfalls and swim in a rock pool, all on the outskirts of Sydney.
At Sydney’s suburban fringe, a wonder of deep gorges, waterfalls and swimming options await to be explored. The walking tracks in the Southern Highlands, ranging from family and pet friendly day walks, to longer overnight hikes, offer a glimpse into the unique beauty of this region. The Mermaid Pools and Tahmoor Canyon circuit mimics the landscape of certain parts of the Northern Territory, as it winds adjacent to the Bargo River towards its 15-metre-deep pool and natural amphitheatre. Although at times busy, scrambling past the mermaid pools affords a prized solo swim and snack spot. This Southern Highland walk makes for a challenging yet gratifying day, with other relaxed walking alternatives around Bowral.
Wherever and whenever we walk, we acknowledge and pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the Traditional Custodians and Owners of the land.
