A loop via the roof of Australia takes in sweeping alpine views before descending into
a verdant valley and following a cascading river.
Regardless of the season, the Snowy Mountains offer an honest Australian alpine experience. In summer or spring, windswept snow gums sit scattered amongst alpine meadows blossoming with colourful wildflowers. In winter, a more gruelling experience sees the walker through icy conditions, not without idyllic views of alpine lakes and valleys. One of the most iconic Snowy Mountains walks, the climb up Mt Kosciuszko, can be achieved in one rewarding day on the Dead Horse Gap track. Other longer snowy alpine walks, such as the Jagungal Wilderness Walk, affords 4 days of solitude (at the right time) in pristine snowfields with vibrant sunsets, clear starry nights and a hot fire at each campsite.
