The first section of the Carnarvon Great Walk follows the Carnarvon Creek as it meanders through sandstone country. With Carnarvon fan palms, ancient cycads and other flowering shrubs along its margins, the trail continues through patches of remnant rainforest tucked behind gorges and below sandstone cliffs. Before ending at Big Bend, Aboriginal rock art can be viewed at the Art Gallery and Cathedral Cave, not far from the main track.
