Hard

This overnight one-way hike begins with a short vehicle shuffle from Halls Gap to Borough Huts Campground. There are bus transfers available, or usually the outdoor stores in Halls Gap offer to drive your vehicle to the end point for a small fee. The trail follows the Stony Creek as it meanders through the Grand Canyon and surrounding rocky outcrop shrubland and lowland forest. There are large rocky slabs to traverse and climb before reaching the pinnacle, a great spot for a drink break with extensive views of the landscape below. From here, the track leads to Bugiga Hike-in Campground nestled below Mt Rosea. Designed by Sean Godsell, this hiker camp has a key focus to minimise environmental impact whilst reinforcing the park’s significant natural and cultural heritage. With an impressive arched sheltered area and circular tent platforms overlooking the valley below, this campground is a spectacle in itself. The remainder of the walk is a long descent to Borough Huts Campground through tall forest with views of Mt Rosea. This is a must-do walk for anyone ready to enter the world of overnighters.
