Jacks Creek walking track gets an upgrade

The NSW Government provided $550,000 to replace three ageing lookouts with a raised lookout platform, providing an elevated but safe viewpoint across Jacks Creek gorge and out across the sprawling plains to the west.

Jacks Creek walking track traverses through a sheltered gorge and up onto a ridge top, where visitors can enjoy scenic views, plentiful birdwatching and diverse tree and plant species.

The project included removing three non-compliant lookouts, installing a new raised platform and realigning the walking track to manage fall risk. New signage was also put in place.

This project was one of a number of visitor precinct renewal and upgrade projects within Cocoparra National Park, including day use areas and campground upgrades undertaken over the last four years, providing visitors with refreshed and updated facilities.

While the project was challenging in parts due to its location and the type of platform, NPWS took advantage of local knowledge and leading industry contractors to get the job done.
