ArchiGuide: Discovering Geelong’s Modern Architecture

Geelong Design Week

Discover Geelong’s architectural story on a guided walk with Stewart Seaton through the CBD, exploring significant examples of modernist and postmodernist architecture and the people, ideas and cultural influences behind them.

Learn how key buildings have contributed to Geelong’s evolving identity as a UNESCO City of Design, while developing a deeper appreciation of the city’s contemporary built environment and architectural heritage.

The tour launches the first public edition of the ArchiGuide map, a curated folding guide featuring key buildings and architectural highlights across the city.

Participants will receive a printed map to continue exploring independently beyond the tour.

The experience offers a fresh way to look at familiar places while encouraging greater public understanding, appreciation and preservation of Geelong’s architectural legacy.

Stewart Seaton is an architect, educator and researcher at Deakin University whose work explores architectural history, theory and experience. He is also the creator of the Geelong ArchiGuide, celebrating the region’s architectural heritage and design culture.
