The Carnarvon National Park north of Roma is not widely known, yet is a spectacular oasis in the semi-arid landscape. Near the start is Cathedral Cave with Indigenous rock art visible on overhangs. One hundred metres further upstream off the main gorge, head into Boowinda Gorge. Here you are surrounded by towering sandstone cliffs and lush remnant rainforest in sheltered side canyons.
